GrooveWindow.com: Live and Socialized

(chicka chicka mow mow) imagine your favorite 1970′s wah-wah funk guitar sound there…

The ball’s starting to roll downhill now. I’ve moved my old aqua-web.com site to its new domain and everything seems to have gone smoothly. Please let me know if you’re having any login problems, etc.

If you’re into social networks, and that’s a more convenient way to keep up, feel free to follow me on Twitter or Facebook. The latest updates are over in the sidebar.

Funk Groove #4 is written, notated, MIDI-fied and the backing tracks are sounding pretty good. I’m shooting and editing now, and hope to have the full series posted before I leave at the end of July. As a teaser, here’s a little audio snippet of the ending.

Funk Groove #4 in Bb (Ending Snippet) by groovewindow

Finally, I’ve been toying with doing a weekly live broadcast on ustream. I’m not exactly sure what the format or content would be yet, but I believe I could pull it off.

What do you think? If you have thoughts, ideas, suggestions for what you’d like to see — post them in the comments. I think it might be a quicker way to get questions and issues you’re dealing with up and out into the airwaves.

Another great teaser… Damn, my tongue is wearing the floor ^^

Just hop that the drums are not the same all along the song, I can’t get on it to catch the beats =)

Will you release some tuts like you did with youtube ? That could be enough, I did learn Funk groove 1 with =) Did you see my video response ? =)

Wow — I hadn’t seen that! Nice playing!

Don’t worry — the new groove will make more sense when you hear the whole thing, — and there are big long sections which are ‘straight ahead’ funk. I will definitely be doing a full set of tutorial videos for this (as well as at least another three full tunes). That’s my whole goal these days — new complete series like the original ones.

Wohoo! According to the audio snippet, funk #4 has got to be the coolest one yet. Personally, I like how the groove kind of “lurch” in that not so “straight ahead” way. I “print screened” the score pic you published on Twitter, it’s fun to play as well. Feel free to upload the full score at any time :) Well well, end of July you said…
Live broadcasts potentially could develop into a neat feature. I’m not sure how that would work though, would it be possible to somehow communicate (e.g. ask question) live or is it a “one-way” broadcast?

Heh — I’ll definitely publish the music (and MIDI file) with the series, but I’ve got a few more mistakes to fix, still!

The whole point to doing something live would be to make it more interactive. I get great questions through email, twitter and facebook, and while text responses are ok, sometimes it’s clearer to demonstrate certain things on a piano.

UStream does have a live chat for each live channel, so there’s definitely a way to communicate during the broadcast. I’d probably try to get a consistent place to post questions ahead of time, so that I could cover them in the next live show. We’ll see — it’s just an idea at this point, but it has possibilities.
